The Story of Vanity

This is Vanity, but her name is Loulou, she is from Germany.
Her day job is taking care of children at the daycare center of the local gym. Loulou is one of 6 sisters, she is the oldest and a very responsible person. At home Loulou feels the need to help her siblings out with, well; everything.
The life of this young female is a crowded one, with people seeking her attention continuously. Loulou copes with that busyness during the night, at the ‘Fuckflat’: she loves to just take care of herself while staring at her own reflection in the mirror, creating new poses for hours on end.
Almost needless to mention; the customers she attracts are the ones who like to watch.powderboxgirls story vanity

Vanity, 2016, Mixed media (acrylic cube, 1920/30s etched glass, porcelain halfdoll, 1950s metal compact powder box) 9 x 9 cm. All items have been left untouched, no glue or any other permanent adhesives have been used. If you open the gold filled seal this sculpturette will fall apart.

Vanity is part of the Powder Box Girls; a series of statuettes accompanied by their own short story created by Mimi Berlin. The Powder Box Girls are girls of pleasure with double jobs. Working during the day is very important to them, oddly enough without these jobs they couldn’t work the night.
